Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Engineer I – Quality Assurance to support our plant's quality initiatives. This role is hands-on and central to ensuring compliance with manufacturing and product standards while supporting continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will help drive root cause analysis, customer satisfaction, and ISO 9000 improvements in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Core Quality & Process Improvement
· Support quality system implementation, including ISO 9000, APQP, and PPAP.
· Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
· Collaborate with engineering and production to ensure product and process requirements are met.
· Use statistical tools and CAD data to support lean manufacturing improvements.
· Reduce scrap, rework, and quality-related costs through structured problem-solving.
Customer & Supplier Quality
· Respond to customer complaints with urgency, lead containment, root cause, and corrective action efforts.
· Support supplier quality initiatives and assist in PPAP review and sourcing decisions.
· Lead and participate in daily "Quality Wall" meetings to address quality concerns.
Training & Communication
· Ensure quality requirements are documented and communicated in standard work.
· Contribute to training programs that improve quality awareness and execution across departments.
· Assist in the supervision of hourly personnel in the Quality Department.
· Provide performance updates and quality metrics to teams and leadership.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field.
· 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing or quality (internships/co-op considered).
· Hands-on experience with quality tools such as PPAP, FMEA, APQP, ISO 9000.
· Proficient in statistical techniques (SPC, Capability Studies, Gage R&R, Sampling Plans).
· Familiar with root cause analysis methods (8D, 5 Why).
· Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree in a technical field.
· Six Sigma Green Belt and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
· CAD experience.
· Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
Work Environment
· Mix of office and manufacturing floor environments.
· Safety glasses and hearing protection required when on the production floor.
